The youngest Test playing nation Ireland has renewed its sponsorship deal with Turkish Airlines.

Cricket Ireland has announced that the Istanbul-headquartered company will sponsor Ireland’s cricket governing body and the Ireland national men’s cricket team till 2019. The news comes after the airline became the lead sponsor of Cricket Ireland in April in a one-year deal that saw the company’s branding worn on the Irish national teams’ playing shirts. The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

“Agreeing to extend our partnership with a world-famous brand like Turkish Airlines to 2019 is a great boost for Cricket Ireland,” added Dennis Cousins, commercial director at Cricket Ireland. “The national and international reach of Irish cricket gives Turkish Airlines a platform to leverage their brand, not just in Ireland, but globally, across territories where we both enjoy high levels of visibility and a shared footprint.

“India, Bangladesh, South Africa and the UK are just some of these territories and we look forward to growing our partnership further with Turkish Airlines, one of the leading sports sponsorship rights holders globally.”

Ireland along with Afghanistan was given Test status by the International Cricket Council earlier this year. The Irish cricket association has recently signed Toyota as its Official Car Partner and India’s business conglomerate Shapoorji Pallonji as its Official Academy Partner.

Cricket Ireland will also receive $40 million from the International Cricket Council over the next eight years, on account of full members’ revenue share.
